Twitch Top 50 Games: Is the streaming bubble shrinking?

Is the streaming bubble shrinking, or are streamers moving to other non-gaming categories?

The data we get every second at PressEngine across Twitch, YouTube and TikTok lets us see the trends that can get lost in the weeds. This is what Week 16 (April 12th–18th) is telling us, and what it means compared to Week 1.

Analysing every single week of the Top 50 games by individual streams shows us that for the past seven weeks the order of the Top 7 games - Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, Valorant, CoD, GTA 5 and Apex Legends, hasn't changed - but what the data doesn't necessarily show on first glance is that the number of streamers across all seven is shrinking - and it's shrinking at such a similar rate that none of these games have changed their position. This is the same across almost all fifty games - the streamer base across the top games is getting smaller. In week one a game would need upwards of 18k-19k streamers to get into the Top 50. As of Week 16 that bar has dropped to a little over 15k.

Two games tipping the balance the other way are Counter Strike and Rocket League - both growing their streamer counts over the past few weeks, but they're the exception. CoD Warzone has lost over 23,000 streamers since week one, and ARC Raiders has lost nearly 60% of it's streamer base since week one. Something that myself and Tom Moore are sad to see as we're still enjoying the game - maybe the upcoming new map can help slow the slide.

Two new debuts of note enter the Top 50 this week - Windrose, a pirate PvP survival game has taken hold of some of the most-watched Sea of Thieves streamers - giving the new indie title, which is in Early Access, a strong debut at 26. Another indie game to callout is Phasmophobia - which has kept its place in the Top 50 since week 1 - mostly sitting around the middle of the chart.

Another new release this week, PRAGMATA, Capcom's new multi-format Sci-Fi epic Action Adventure, which released on April 17th, lands in at #31. I've not played this yet, but it's definitely on my radar. I'm mindful though that 007 First Light drops soon and I need to keep my schedule clear for that!

(I'm considering doing this type of deep dive each week, let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to see.)

This image shows a declining line graph of ARC Raiders streams by week, starting at 319k, briefly rising to 344k, then sliding down to the last number which is 124k. This image features three games. Windrose, a strong debut at #26. Phasmophobia, in top 50 since Week 1, 2026. PRAGMATA, debuts at #31.
